I was wondering if it is OK to add a scoop or so of whey protein powder with my meal replacement powder to add the protein up to 40 grams. I'm trying Advocare Meal Replacement Shake packets. There is only 12 grams of protein in each packet.  Paul

No problem there. For me, a meal replacement means no hassel. If I use one, it's going to have everything I want for a quick nutrition blast without having to add anything and it will be quick and easy to prepare. That is why I don't use them much. If I know I'm going to be very busy or on the road, I'll whip up a batch of protein/carbs/EFA's in advance to have when and as much as I think I need. That's all a MRP is anyway, plus a so-so vitamin and mineral mix. Some have insignificant amounts of other mildly beneficial ingredients, but if I take a good multivitamin and my other regular supps, all I need in a meal replacement is my basic food.

MnB of course has hit the nail on the head. I use an MRP in the am for breakfast, but unlike the one that you are using sd mine has 20 grams of protein per scoop plus 10 grams of very low glycemic carbs and of course all the vites/mins etc. I take 3 scoops in the am with water, otherwise my shakes are plain old whey and flax mixed with water.

I suggest sd that next time you invest in an MRP that you shop around for a better one IE one designed more for an athlete.
