Ya I've also noticed this as well the better Drs are Euro trained, and also don't seem to have the same God complex that so many of their North American brethren appear to suffer with, or maybe it's also an age thing as the younger Drs have less of an "attitude" than the older Drs have.Anyway I'm glad you've got a Dr with a brain!! Yep! Great minds DO think alike...! Also just a sidenote here... one of the effects of taking "Niaspan" (extended release niacin) IS vaso-dialation, but the MAIN reason Doc has me on it is to RAISE my HDL, which in turn will lower my LDL! My somewhat high cholesterol levels are partially from diet (large amounts of protien over the years), and partly due to heredity. Now for my moderately high BP...Doc has me taking"Avapro"(Irbesartan), which is an angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. It works by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in the body.

I ALWAYS allow for the "Alzheimer's" factor when talking with you as I know that you are WAY up there in the years... ! It's not so bad. I'm like a goose. I wake up in a brand new world every morning and get to make a whole new circle of friends.

OK. Here's the new deal. I love what the Stan does for me, but it also fucks w/me. So...I am going this route. Omnadren @ 1 G/week indefinately. (as base...i love this stuff!) Tren E. .6g to .8g/week (20 weeks) Stan (low dose) on training days only. (duration) Clen., pyramid up and then down over 4-5 weeks, off 2 weeks then repeat as needed.

Excellent setup, Jack. I like Stan also, but it hurts my joints so much I can't run it over 4-5 weeks. I haven't used it snce my last show in '03. I also get mean as a hornet, but that's as much from running almost no carbs pre contest as it is from the Stan. Finally, after many months of gradual deterioration due to injuries and lack of first rate supplementation (even though continuing to train as best I could) I hooked up wth a good test and EQ. I'm a-gittin' my mojo back.

It's good to hear that both you "old timers" have got things figured out with supplements etc. And like MnB I only winny for shows or my joints fall apart.

I got the only thing available. Things had totally dried up back East, and all my online folks had disappeared after the big bust. Fortunately, there was test, and i respond OK to EQ. Running the test at 600 and the EQ at 400 a week. That's plenty for now. I can really tell a difference. As P.S. as been encouraging me to do for the last couple of years, lifting pissy ass weights for a good while has allowed my old injuries to ease up. That's helping as much as the gear. I'll up my workouts weights some more, but I have to accept that the good old days are gone as far as heavy weight is concerned. Of course, I've said that before. We'll see what happens.

The way I see it MnB is that as long as we look like we can lift big numbers is all that matters. But if ya gotta move big numbers then I suggest that you at least use higher reps so as to limit the ego lifts and thus injuries. I also like hammer machines for most of my pressing exercises as they seem to allow for decent weight to be lifted but are much easier on my shoulders.
As long as I look like I can bench 500 who cares what I can actually bench at this stage in my life?!?!

"How much can you bench?" Jeez... that was the standard question to anyone who appeared to be a lifter for so many years. I always just gave them a dirty look and said, "A lot." I'm doing mostly dumbells and weighted dips for chest now and things are coming along. We have some decent machines up here that have a similar path of motion and feel as Hammer Strength but they load from a stack instead of with plates. I have a long way to go, and I have no desire to rush it. Another shoulder surgery would be devastating, as would another crippling episode with my lower back.

My usual response to that question is simply..."I don't bench"! ...smile, wink and walk away. The sound of human jawbones hitting the gym floor...priceless... Though I strongly believe in keeping thick bone-mass as I mature (heavy lifting). HELL, I'd rather break the hardwood floor than a hip when falling...

I have a new orthopedic doc here since the move. I keep one so I can get the ocasional Rx for a flexeril and occasional pain pill. He is cool and encourages continuing with resistance training to preserve bone density.
