i sit here and laugh as i surf through the vast world of the internet.....

20 years ago there was no way for people to meet that were hundreds or thousands of miles from each other....
20 years ago you had to rely on your own personality, charisma and resources to meet people whether it be for friendship, information or love interests...

now..with a couple of clicks of a mouse, a screen name and a password you can belong to any number of sites and meet people that, without this technology, would never of known you exsist....and what surprises me the most is the fact that i had NO idea how many SUPERMODELS, MILLIONAIRES, NEUROSURGEONS, PROFFESSIONAL ATHLETES AND DON JUANS there actually are in the world....

you know, in the real world, people with more than one personality are diagnosed with disorders and usually locked away in institutions....but not in the cyber world....

and then there's the ones that "trash talk" other people because of their color, race, sexual preference, appearance...or the ones that feel that the best way to meet someone of the opposite sex is to be as rude and perverted as humanly possible (this of course is the "don juans" of cyber world)....would these people walk up to someone and do this to their faces? no...they wouldnt say SHIT if they had a mouthfull of if....it appears to me that the monitors (or possibly) the keyboards of many peoples computers give them superhuman powers and turn them into keyboard warriors magically giving them the power to say what they otherwise would be scared to even think about....

what ever happened to being REAL? being yourself and letting your TRUE persona shine through? are these people that vile and disgusting that they have to invent a completely new person? do they sleep well at nite after spending hours in cyber world lying about themselves and sharing their "dark clouds of life" with everyone else?

just a little something to think about next time you log on....

Yes QOD...this IS sad. They hide behind fictional skeletons of what they imagine themselves to be in the vast realm of web make-beleive...You tube is a PRIME example of this! Watch and see where these a-wipes are 20-30 years from now...blaming everyone else or "society" for their problems. People like this are nothing more than "poster children" for contraception and/or capitol punishment...
E-mo's, gang-bangers (pussies), politicians, schiester lawyer's...all of them. Good riddance to ALL of societies garbage!! Who need's ya"...

On the other hand, I get to know some of the most interesting people in the world... like you guys.
It's a strange world out there.... on the web and in person, where I get to deal with some of the strangest.
We have to decide, just like in real life, who we feel is for real. I takes practice. I do believe it is unproductive to assume everyone we encounter on the net is phony until they prove otherwise. We don't have to worry about the fakes. Once they realize we are for real and they can't fool us, they move on to someone hungrier for the bullshit.
I don't think, percentage wise, that there are more sick fucks in the world than 40 years ago. How many people were in the world then? A few hundred? Now there are zillions.... 3% of zillions is  a lot more than 3 % of whatever there was then. That my friends, is the real problem. Just too damn many people. We need some sort of pestilence. Thin the herd.

One of the things I try stressing with our teenager is that with texting on the cell phone, myspace, AND I/M on the internet, never say (type) anything you wouldn't say out loud to me. That sort of chit can find a way to come back and bite one in the ass.

The nice thing about this board is that even though it may be quite small at least the members are real!!

I am a full fledged geek nerd and techno-freak. but i cannot stand the MyFace Mebo Farcebook's of this world. If i wish to talk to a friend i'll call them or go and see them, even if it means spending 4hrs in a car.
But I have found people I get on with and are friends with in this forum and others.
A bit odd really.

This is a unique forum as are a few others, but generally I find that there are so many "posers" on the really big forums and to say they annoy me is a HUGE understatement!!

QOD, I totally agree. I think its hilarious how many people on other forums are 28 year old, totally hot, perfect body/face, great job, 5000sf home and get laid by a different man/woman (or both) every night. When I read that kind of self-aggrandizing chit, I assume 50 yo, overweight, white trash in a double-wide trailer. The computer is the ONLY luxury they can afford.

It is amazing how real the folks are on this board. However, is some intolerable poser came on here, you folks would have them for lunch.

I do appreciate how you use real pics of yourself for your avatars  Wink
