Just gotta rant a little.  So here I am getting back into the groove with the diet and weights after a layoff(MUCH too long, but thats a different story)...  Last night I am laying on the floor entertaining my 6 month old and unbeknownst to me my 2 1/2 year old son decides to superman off the arm of the couch onto daddy. BAM pop goes the shoulder.  Freakin dislocation...  I was able to pop it back in which was a great sight for my son to see I am sure.  But DAMN this was my good shoulder that I have never injured. SON OF A FREAKIN BIATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry  I am trying to stay positive here but damn shoulder injuries have always been the hardest for me to recover from.  DAMN!!!!!

Shit that really sucks!! So I guess it's time to do some rehab and get 'er back in shape. I suggest that you start doing some serious rotator cuff work, as it appears that you may have poor developement of these muscles if a 2 year old could pop the shoulder out so easily. Just be thankfull it didn't pop under a heavy bench press as that could have seriously got you hurt....!

Good luck with the rehab.

Haha! Woodie got wupped by a toddler...! Bwahahahaha! Did he have you in a "hellicoptor spin" above his head before he slamed you to the carpet...?  Grin Dang dude, you must REALLY be out of shape!
*just kidding bro! Hope you make a speedy recovery. But a dislocated shoulder is gonna hang with you for a looong time to come...
...2&1/2 years old and already your son has bragging rites... Wink good luck Wood.

See how kind I was? Unlike JT I didn't take the obvious shots at ya Wood, but JT is right in that your shoulders are seriously out of shape. I mean even if the little guy did manage to helicopter you into a power slam and then finishing you off with a submission hold that's no reason for that shoulder to pop out. Shit just be thankfull your boy only weighs in at 50ish pounds 'cause when they get older and bigger they can really put the hurt on ya, so get those shoulders fixed up mister!

laugh it up fu*ktards! Grin  I'll mail you a dirty diaper Grin

]I know, I know.  It is mostly because I am out of shape it happened in the first place which is prob 90% of why I was soo pissed, (the other 10% is trying to explain how a 2 1/2 year old kicked my ass Cheesy.  Man it was like the "perfect storm"  I had worked shoulders AND did some pretty serious rotator cuff work about 30 min before, laying one the stomach, arms outstretched, powerbomb straight to the joint.  I knew I was gonna catch some shit maybe get me a little motivation. -Although if a kid kickin my ass wasnt enough I don't know what is...

At this point I need some opinions as far as recovery time?  When I busted up my other shoulder playing ball I was back on the field within days if not hours.  Just depended on the importance of the next game.  So I have the repertoire of rehab in my goodie bag, but I don't have any "real world" experience as far as rehab time.  The whole wearing a sling for 2-3 weeks, then ROM exercises for a couple, then the band for a couple and "six months before weight training" ain't gonna happen.  I just don't want to push it too quick.

I am thinking this since it happened Thur night,

FRI/Sat - Iced the bejesus out of it.

Sun- working on ROM
Mon- ROM
Tues- light weight ROM
WED/Thur same

Fri depending on how it feels start in with LIGHT rotator work and go from there.  THOUGHTS?

Fu*ktards.....ouch!! And here we were just trying to assist you in your time of need.....It's not our fault the little fella is WAAYY tougher than the oldman LOL!!!!

Ok so IMO you're on the right track with the rehab and I would suggest that you pay attention to the pain as to when you can return to lifting, but I would shy away from pressing for a bit and stick to laterals, pec-dec etc for a few weeks. Then if I were you I would ever so slowly begin to incorporate very light machine pressing all the while maintaining the rehab exercises. As far as time to fully heal goes that will just depend on you as we are all different in this regard.

One last thought maybe you should hire the 6 month old, a neighbourhood kid, or if you really feel you need it a security company for protection as I would hate to see ya get your ass kicked again...Hahahaha!!! Sorry it's nothing to be ashamed of as not all of us are physically able to protect ourselves...Poor little guy!! LOL!!!!!!

Oh and you wouldn't have been all over this like ugly on an ape if it were me or JT!?! When you give out ammunition like this you can't expect someone like me or JT to not take a few pot shots.....we're kinda weak that way!!

Well get on the bands and get rehabing the shoulder, and I'm glad the shoulder is getting better but just go slow.

Oh and keep that 1st grader around for a bit longer....you may still need him!!

It's all good.  I definately have to laugh at myself given the circumstances.  I actually thought you guys went easy on me. Grin

Oh and for what it's worth the 1st grader is pretty big for his age. LOL!!!!

Holy hell I forgot about that. Grin  I see you didn't. LOL!!!

Rehab is coming along ok.  Pretty much painless throughout full ROM.  I did some light weight lateral this morning.  Nothing like going from one end of the dumbbell rack to the other...  "Excuse me Granny, but do you mind if I grab that 2lb dumbbell?"

I'm gald that the rehab is coming along so well, but just get used to the fact that you're a pussy and therefore should be using 2 lb DBs, but hey in no time you'll be ready for your figure debut!!!! LOL!!!

And you guys wonder why I would never post anything regarding an injury.......Silly Woodard!!

And before you can blink an eye...you'll be hoisting that 45-lber straight bar on the flat bench and just dream of the day when you can put a "dime" on each side and press it for as good 8 to 10 reps...without a spotter dude...! Awesome..!!!
