Looks like they just kept watching as his forearms went from vertical to almost parralel to ground when it was too late.
He was trying to beat this guy...

It is the same guy, His name is Ryan Kennelly from WA. He has the record at 1050 and he just missed 1100 on his third attempt. That 1085 was on his second try. I met him a few years ago in Portland, Or and he is one humble guy. You would think he would be all cocky but he is not. He is willing to help anyone that ask for it. Aloha!

I like how it says at the top "He tried to beat the record of this guy. But he's a little pussy." I wish I could bench 1/3 of that, and Ill bet my bottom dollar that the guy who wrote that comment cant even bench over 1/4 that.

Yep, Ryan was a good guy, met him with Hawaiian Iron at the Oregon State last year, seemed like a great guy. HUGE in person. Very thick guy.

1050 bench!! Shit I remember when a 660 was a massive lift, and now these guys would be using that for reps!!

That's just silly weight. Shocked  Dude was definately born with good strength genetics but you gotta admire the dedication it takes to tune your body like that.  For most people it can take years just to get into the 400-500lb range.

Great lift (and attempt) by any means. Power-lifting is way easier to train for than BB'ing! Two different worlds...connected and yet far sepporated.

Powerlifting was much easier for me to train for, a lot of that having to do with diet, plus I just enjoyed lifting heavy weight. To excel at either, you still have to be a little nuts.

I agree as both are extreme sports and as such it takes an extreme personality to excell at either.
