Pat looked amazing, as did many international athletes that showed up. the promoter wasn't very good at his job, no food for the athletes, limited pump-up equipment (one bench and 4 sets of dumbells) and there wasn't even transportation for them from the hotel to the venue....this was an INTERNATIONAL contest, there was athletes from; south america, germany, england, italy, trinadad, just to name a few.
most of these guys only got one comparison on stage, it was basically the "cormier, jackson, tailor and charles show".....kinda disappointed.
but we made some great friends and are now planning to attend the grand prix in spain next year....here's a few shots;

What an awesome experience to be able to stand on stage with the pro's! Pat, I am proud of you bro, you have represented this sport well, and achieved what many of us will struggle our whole lives (and not be able) to achieve.
I didnt realize how seperated your abs were, have they been like that all along?
Great conditioning (as usual you freak).

Thanks HC for the kind words, but really all it took was 28 years of gut busting work to get this far. As for my abs ya they have always been like this with a huge split down the middle, and believe it or not I didn't do one lick of ab work, or cardio for that matter, getting ready for this show.

Haha! Bumps to my man p,s,...you looked hella-good mofo! Your conditioning was dead-on! Tan was x-l-ent. As HC mentioned your abs (not to mention most if not all of your other BP's as well) had awesome separation and on-the money vascularaty! Great work man. I know only ALL too well that some things (most) do NOT happen over-nite!

Yep Queenie. That Mutha should be spanked for what he "didn't" provide! Being a IFBB promoter. As I mentioned to you before...come to the States to compete! You'll avoid ALL of the BS! Do it! Go for it! What the heck are you both waiting for??! J.

Great job ps, you looked f#*kin HUGE! Jelly and I had planned to attend but couldn't make it for financial reasons, so we waited for the shots to be posted on MD and Flex online. Your lats insert somewhere down by your ankles. Lucky! How did you get so peeled with no cardio?

You and me bro, I dont do any ab work ever, and very minimal cardio prior to contest. Amazing what a clean diet will do....

To be honest with ya I think it must have been the supplements I used as otherwise my diet was the same as it was for the nationals in 04 and I did quite a bit of cardio back then. As for my weight I was 246 a few days out so I was probably just shy of 250 after carbing up. Now as far as being lean goes I was probably one of the leaner guys up there but as I only got compaired once during the pre-judge I didn't have a hope in hell of keeping my pump while just standing there for what seemed like FOREVER!! And as I knew that I was out of the money as far as placing I didn't worry to much about eating after the pre-judge, so ya a few of my pics are when we came out individually first thing during the pre-judge when I was still pumped and tight/hard and the others are either the comparisons or at night (either way though by that time I had lost some of my hardness/pump). Hopefully when I do Spain next year things will be different.

You did it man!! You're onstage as a pro - with the pros! Way to go, Big Guy!
Questions.....
How was backstage? Different than the Nats? In what way...

Ya, I see your point! I think that the judges took into consideration that Long had it in the lower half, and Kamali had the upper...but Kamali seemed to have the better over-all conditioning. AND he does have somewhat of a freakish looking back...

Ya it was way different back stage as most of the guys compete together many times per year and over many years so there was a general easy going attitude with most of the guys (of course there are always going to be one or two guys with "attitudes"). And generally we all got along very well. Now as for how the show was ran and how we as athletes were treated well lets just say that there is a lot of room for improvement! As far as differences between this show and the nats well the number of athletes is considerably less so we have WAY more time and freedom to pump up, hang out, watch the show from the sidelines etc and of course as much time on stage as we wanted (this of course was/is new to me) so I'll have to develope my routine for the next show with this in mind.
