Hey guys

was doing legs today, on the press and a guy worked in with me, he was doing much heavier than me about 1210 lbs, anyway from his set to mine and mine to his was a bit of swapping of discs i ended up doing 880 lbs for my 6 sets of 15 , did last week at 770lbs, thing is, i didnt realise i was 100lbs heavier than i thought i was at, it sure did feel hard work, i thought i was just weeker as i have the cold - i guess it shows its really mind over matter - anyone else experienced this?

 - weird.

You bet, that is the benefit of working with someone stronger than you, you'll always push yourself harder (or get under heavier weight than you realize). Good job!!

That was a training method that a friend of mine and I had back in the 80's. We picked up a new friend that had been training for quite some time(he was older than us, a Vietnam vet) but couldn't seen to make much in the way of gains. We got along pretty well with him around the gym, and, as we were in our very early 20's, we were making good gains. That was what he was hoping to tap into.
So, once we had blended him in to our routine, we would ask him for the weight that he wanted for a particular set and we would slip in a few extra pounds. Not too much.... 10 to 40 lbs depending on the movement. We always told him after he'd power thru the set, and he'd always be suprised with how the set went.
 Good times...

I also used to train with guys far more advanced than I was and made some of the best gains ever. Now however I'm the biggest/strongest so I have to motivate myself. I have noticed one thing though and that's most of the young guys do not want to train hard and even the experienced BBs who you would think would be eager to train as hard as possible do not like to train with me, as they seem to feel that I'm to intense and push to hard.....damn the kids/young guns are pathetic in this day and age!
