Hello there,

Well I figured I should start one of these as suggested.

Basically my diet is very basic right now, so any comments would be excellent on ways to improve it.

I'm 5'9" 172lbs and would like ideally to loose a little bodyfat whilst retaining muscle mass and as much strength as is possible.

I've attached the diet for today as an .xls which can be opened with Microsoft Excel, or and spreadsheet program such as the OpenOffice supplied product.

Ok first off that diet is poor at best. Sure you've got your protein covered and your other macro-nutrients, but what about tossing in a salad or two or maybe a few veggies like broccoli etc. When you decide to get back on the journal track I'll give some diet tips.

Well been away from here for a while now, been extremely busy but back now.

Reading that diet of mine, it's shocking what i've put down. That must have been a terrible day. Most days I eat enough meat so I only require 2-3 shakes, and have boiled potatoes, peas, carrots with most meals. all measured. I eat apples after a workout, and have also picked up some oranges. I eat pasta, basmati rice too.

I would suggest that you not boil your potatoes or veggies as this takes out quite a number of usefull nutrients. I suggest that you try either nuking your veggies/potatoes or baking them. Otherwise this new somewhat revised diet outline is a bit better than what you initially wrote.

I suggest that you write down exactly what you're eating and when each day for a week or two as this will allow you to review what you're doing right as well as wrong.
