I would like to know your opinion on junk days.

Everyone i have spoken to highly recommends having a proper junk day once a week when cutting

BUT

Do you think a junk day would also benifit someone who was doing a clean bulk without excessive carbs??

by clean i mean all food sources from whole, natural foods - no shit at all! no sweet stuff, no skipping etc

The way i figure is this - i consider eating 2 grms carbs per 1lb lean body mass relatively low, but i think you can still grow on this without putting on excessive fat as long as your protein intake is around 2 - 2.5 grms per 1lb lbm. The resaon for a junk day when cutting is too keep your metabolism high and too stop your body adapting to your cutting diet etc. So surely if your body can adapt to a low carb intake, it can also adapt to the aformentioned clean bulk diet, therefore a junk day would have the same positive effect for growing as it does for cutting?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh??

My cheat day when cutting is pretty simple:  An abnormal (for me) meal of maybe beef stroganoff or whole wheat spaghetti w/meat followed by some Icecream or Hot tomales (my fav candy); usually eaten while watching or going to a movie.  I allow this once every 7 to 10 days.

When I bulk, one of my favorite cheats is pizza and some rich desert, usually involving chocolate.  This is again only once every 7 to 10 days.  My bulk diet is still fairly clean, but I do allow a bit more in the 'cheat' dept.

I personally think cheat days are necessary to keep your metabolism running efficiently.  I have no scientific proof of this, but I do know what works for me and what doesn't.  Just dont over do it; IE: Eat 15,000 calories of crap from morning to night.  All my cheats are usually the 'early evening' meal followed by a desert.  My last meal is still a shake+flax oil.

 triggernigha When on a "clean" bulk you can have a junk meal or day if you wish, but in all reality you're not suffering as you would with the resticted cals of a contest type diet, so the need for a junk day/meal is just you wanting to go off the eating regimine for whatever reason.

So by all means go ahead and have that junk day/meal but don't think it will help your "clean" bulk in any way, as the extra cals will be stored as BF.
