I have been wanting to post a thread committing to get my azz back in the gym and asking to be held accountable, but I decided to wait until I had some consistency to report first.
I posted a note awhile back about how I had cancer, had a baby, new job bla bla bla and got out of working out consistently for about 8 months.
History: I went from 217lb, high BF%, dieted to 164 skinny azz wimp, back to 200 or so, was trained by HC and got down to low 180's with a much lower BF% - can't remember exactly what now.
Beginning of 2006, I was in the best shape of my life - not fantastic, but at the point where people I had never met would say "you obviously work out".
I'm a fat azz again for the above reasons. Sigh.
Starting six weeks ago, I committed to getting back in the gym, regardless of how I feel physically and despite the crazy schedule. It was depressing to see how much strength I had loss and I HATE seeing myself in that damn mirror they put in front of the hall, leading from the showers. My face looks fat and my waist has a blob around it that spills over my belt - lovely picture, huh?
However, after the 3rd week, I started to be able to increase weights by 5-10lbs per week on dumbells, more on machines and am starting to see a difference in my arms, at least.
Big issue for me is diet - very hard to stay on it with the long work hours and frequent travel but I am working at it.
Current stats (oh god, here goes): 42 YO 6' 204 lbs (AAahahhhh) ?bf but its high, I'm sure don't know my measurements except that my 33 waist pants are uncomfortable
Goals:
Back to mid 180's (or 190's with greater muscl mass) 12-16% BF Noticeably fit body 32" waist Not out of breath at the top of the stairs
I'll get more specific goals when I get measurements.
Alrighty then - that hurt as bad as my last workout!

Nice to see you back on track CJB, you'll do great-you've learned from the best right;)?
Consistancy is key for you, and it is what will determine your success, both in the gym and out. Stay consistant with your workouts, supplements, preparing your foods, pre-planning trips, etc.
Like I said, I will make a 7:00 slot available for you in the morning a couple times a week! I'm always here for ya bro.

I'm looking forward to reading this journal as it progresses. It's good to see you taking charge and getting back in the gym. Best of luck

Thanks HC. I have my eye on that 7:00am slot. I need to get a better handle on my schedule to make it worth it. I've been out of the country/state 50% of the time and it doesn't make sense to start/stop with the training. When I hire a few more competent people here and in Europe/China - I'll be able to stay home more. Thanks for the encouragement too - I need that for sure. C

No matter where you go in your travels there will be a gym to train at, so that excuse is right out the window, and as far as food goes use protein powder for most meals and then you'll only have to be concerned with one or two solids. Where there's a will (and goal) there's a way. Go see HC when you're in town if for nothing else a kick in the ass.
You've done this before and you know damned well you're more than capable of doing it again.

Cliff I also work 12 hour days and still drag my sorry ass to the gym, so once again another excuse is IMO right out the window......Get your butt to the gym!

I get it, PS. ;-)
It is a busy time in my life right now with a kid at each stage: college, highschool, mid school, gradeschool, kindergarten AND an infant. However - all the more reason to be healthy, right?
This week:
Ran 2 miles Monday back/biceps/abs Tues
Ate very well except for Sunday (daughter's b-day) I had a very, very small piece of her cake.
AND - a guy I work with said "you're losing weight, huh?" last week. Would have been nicer from a lady but... I'll take it!
Does look like I've lost about 4 lbs.

I know it can be a bit tougher with kids (I used to train at 5:00 am due to this) but now that you're getting some notice from those around you I'm sure that this will help to fuel your efforts. Anyway good job on getting the run and workout in, and a small piece of Bday cake aint gonna kill ya (you still have to live your life).

Don't really have time yet to include details and log in every day.
Still only hitting the gym 2-3 times per week and running and/or cardio 2-3 times. I have not even hit my legs yet - just upper body, arms etc.
However, this is my 8th week back in the gym and I have gone up by 15-20 lbs on dumbells so seeing SOME progress.
Doing better on the diet. I've gotten into a routine of picking up low fat cottage cheese, raw almonds, some apples and a big bottle of water in the morning's. Boooring. I did have fajitas last night but they were tuna so ... not as bad as some.
Working on it - I know I'm not hitting it like a champ but I am making progress and I'm hiring some folks around the globe to take some of the 12-14 hour days off my shoulders. It will get better.

cjb, well done man, sounds like you have a crazy schedule - thats some effort your putting in a little con-cock-shan you might like to try - add some peanut butter to your cottage cheese, it makes a nice little combo - dont need much, just a taste, but it might not be your thing................ oh and fannyjitas rock home made, one wrap with 200 grms of chicken, some low fat yoghurt, home made salsa and some strong cheddar. cant get better

Made it 9 weeks then missed an entire week - Mad at myself. I won't even try to blame the schedule.
I'm going to go running in the morning and hit the gym again Monday.
Just posting to be accountable.
Ok - let the spankings begin.

We've fallen off the journal a bit now haven't we?!? I hope this oversight is not an accurate indication of the rest of your training going into the toilet!

cjb looks down in shame.
It actually hit me pretty hard when one of my sons' friends said "you don't work out anymore huh?" I asked him what he meant and he said "you used to have that horseshoe where your tricep stood out and you don't anymore".
Sucks.
Yes, I'll walk the gauntlet of shame here. I have hardly worked out in the last few weeks. The new company is abusing me but I am hiring 3 more people and staying in town more.
I am doing alot of work around "the farm" but its not the same and I look like a marshmellow.
