Okay, so yeah, I'm one of those dorks that has to rush home from work to watch this show.....However, this crap about that Sanjaya or however you spell his stupid name, still being on the show is absolutely rediculous. It makes me so mad to think that some kid who obviously can't sing up to the level that he needs to is still on the show. ARG! I realize that this is a bodybuilding board, but who else can I vent to better than my hardcore family?!?!?! I even boycotted last week. Major deal for me. I really don't watch anything else except this.....not much anymore just because of this kid still be on it. Just thought I would share my frustration.

Now not that I have ever watched the show but it is my understanding that it's up to the viewers to vote for or against these people, so maybe more like him than don't at this time. IMO it is a dumb-ass show but it does appear to have launched more than a few careers.

I've only seen one episode this season (last night's), but it's definitely all a big joke now. There's a movement to keep him just because he's obviously the least talented. Howard Stern has encouraged his listeners to vote for Sanjaya just to mess with the show. Also, although it's not coming up now, there was a website called www.VoteTheWorst.com, which was dedicated to keeping Sanjaya around, with their ultimate goal being making him the winner. Gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I'm with ps on this one. I have never watched it, but thought the fans voted them off.

I have only watched twice this year BECAUSE its such a crock. That Sanjaya guy should be doing Wella Balsam shampoo commercials - not vocal performances.
The one whose voice I do really like is the Doolittle girl. She seems mature, professional and does have a nice voice. However, it is not outstanding. Not to mention, she kinda looks like Fiona on Shrek - lol. Sorry.
Its a popularity contest, not a talent contest.
I think they need to up the age considerably and let me try out next time they go through Portland... ;-)

I haven't been following A.I. too closely this season but one cannot avoid all the Sanjaya news. The dude may not be the best singer on the show but his marketing skills are unparallelled. Who hasn't heard of him? Most people know his first name and many both first and last. His many hairstyles are plastered on tons of grocery store magazines. One of our local radio stations was having listeners call in with ideas for making Malakar a verb or adjective---as in--"Your hair is so Malakar today" or "I went for an interview and Malakared it".
I have heard rumors that he has been offered acting and advertising contracts already. One day you will be watching late night TV and an ad will pop up for The Best of Sanjaya Malakar for only 14.95 plus shipping!!!
The kid oozes optimism in the face of all the negative press--I have to admire him for that.

OK, here's the thing...the boy CAN sing. Peeps may NOT like the way he looks , or his hairstyle "du' jour" but...he can carry a tune better than you or I! I have been a musician since the age of 12. I am now 49 and STILL a musician! As a musician, I tend to close my eyes and listen to this persons talent as oppossed to "watching" what's going on in front of me when someone is recording or singing, or playing guitar, or drums, violin, bassoon...blahblah...I am NOT a Sanjaya fan persay...but just listen to ALL of the contestants voices rather than "watching" them so hard!...You will be pleased! Look at Bucky Covington from last year....I thought he looked like a pooper, but I loved the way he sounded. Sanjaya is just someone that I think sings way too soft....he sounds like a pansy to me when he sings....like he's uncertain of whether or not he should be on stage. I want to listen to someone with some conviction and certainty. Just a personal opinion...... If your good, you might get some karma.

Hey DQ I'm with you girl.... One of my favorite shows as well but this season took a major dump. Reminds me of when they kept that Scott Savol going for weeks on end as the better singers got voted off. I have heard Sanjaya sing only once that sounded half way correct. The rest of the time he sucks with a passion. His freaking sister was way better then him and she didn't even make the final 24. This guy should have been on the WB superstar not idol. His version of no doubts Bathwater was just terrible and he should have got the Ax for it. WTF
Sorry Jack... On my worst day with a bad cold I sound better then this fool.

ugh, my reply didn't post.
DQ - they might take HC because he's still in his early 30's but they don't want a 42 year old idol ;-)
I'm sorry - if Sanjay was my nephew, I would let him sing in my wedding but his skills don't merit the largest audience in the country. His voice is weak and his pitch is off - not very dynamic.

case and point... Bob Dylan, Courtney Love, Mick Jager, Bonn Scott (deceased), Libberace (deceased), Paul McCartney, Gene Simmons, just a few of the 1000's... ALL of which can NOT sing, and yet all have/have had a sucessful "music" career. Sanjaya CAN sing and carry a tune w/out doubt (imo). And moreover...a great way for anyone to REALLY find out if they CAN sing (or not)...is to make a recording of a vocal w/out any accompanyment (Acapella), and then play it back for an audience...Haha!
