dont know much about these, but wondering if 'natural' competing BB's are allowed to use them?

reason; i watched a prog recently on teen BB's, one of whom used diuretics.

i understand roughly what they do but are they considered a performance enhancer?

was very surprised a 17yr old was using them under guidance, should i be so surprised?

Diuretics are for the final 2 days of contest prep to ensure that all subcutanious water is drawn out. As far as natty BBs go they can only use herbals and even then they must be aware of what is allowed and what isn't or they run the risk of a failed test.

As far as TV goes and shows that are exposing the "dark side" of BBing goes take it all with a grain of salt as most of these shows can and do create senarios to make things appear even worse than they are. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the kid in question was using herbals and the show just omitted that little fact. I'm sure that there are many young guys who use and abuse AAS etc just to make up for certain isues they have but generally if a young fella is 17 and is competitive chances are he (or she) will compete in the natty federations for the first little while.

yeah, i know what your sayin p.s.

but this was an excellent prog painting the sport in a really good light and showing young uns who have some real passion

it was the bb'er in question who just mentioned it in passin as he was describing his prep

the guy looked awesome tho, got 4th in the NABBA jr mr universe 06 in germany at his first attempt. his name was Daniel Andrews. at 17, he is quite unbelievable.

again, diuretics are just another part of the sport i didnt realise was compulsary for competing??

Ya at a contest like the NABBA Universe the quality of competitors is super high, so his use of diuretics is quite understandable as he would have needed to be drier than a popcorn fart in hell. Now having said all the above remember that most BBs that have died or ran into major problems is due to diuretics and creating an unstable electrolyte balance and thus massive cramping and as the heart IS a muscle....!?!

The last 2 days before a show are without a doubt the most dangerous. So what was the name of the show?

not sure what you mean by 'show' p.s.

if you mean the tv prog, it was called Babyfaced bodybuilders

if you mean the comp, it was NABBA International Universe Championships. held germany 10th Dec 2006.

either way, the guy was good.

not knowing much about the competing side of things myself; do NABBA test competitors or are AAS users tolerated? i dont have any intentions of competing just curious

As with certain parts of the IFBB NABBA is untested (although I do believe that they also have a tested section of that federation as with the IFBB). IMO tested shows only create cheaters, so even though people don't like to know or hear about performance enhancing drugs they are a HUGE part of any sport, and like nutrition or other technologies being applied to athletics they should be allowed and utilized under the knowledgable eye of a Dr, etc so that one deosn't run into trouble (this is no different than any other type of coach, nutritionist etc).
