Hi,
Just been asked how one would develop their grip without the use of deads. I haven't got all the details but I believe this person has injured themselves at some point enough to stop them from being able to do heavy deads of any sort. I have suggested static holds but they have also said this doesn't seem to really work for them. Was i correct in suggesting static holds? Would this develop strength in the forearms?

What else can I suggest?

For gripping strength, static holds is the only thing that works well for me. There are other excercises for forearm development and wrist strength, but for grip strength, I've never found anything that beats grabbing a heavy bar and holding that sucker til you just farrgin' die. Another suggestion would be plate pinches...

I fully agree with MnB on the static holds, and your buddy Beef is just lazy or posibly as static holds tend to hurt he's a bit of a pussy.
