I hope you got some ice on it right away, and I would suggest that you go see a chiro asap.

Yeh Iced it right away, but today I have absolutly no pain whatsoever no matter what I do. It only ached for roughly 2 hours and then was fine?

Thats good that it wasn't a serious injury. A friend of mine got a back injury deadlifting, and he lost 6 pounds and got pretty fat.

Yeh just a minor twinge. I was very luck tbh, and I've definately learnt from the experience. I'm just thankful I can learn from a minor thing like this and not have to be hit hard to learn.

Probably just a muscle spasm if it resolved that quickly, but you have to be really careful with your back. To be honest I'd be really careful about going to a chiro, there are some good ones but there are as many bad ones who will only make things worse. The key with a musculoskeletal back injury is to stay active (no bedrest) but also reducing strain on it until it's healed up.

I'm with ya on the whole chiro thing. Right after my car accident (rear ended) I went in and saw a chiro as per reccommendation from a client and regretted it. He tried to adjust my neck after I suffered a double concussion and left me in more pain than I ever was in.....it was horrible. With the back thing, I would really advise some caution when doing back in the future. Be a bit cautious of higher weights for the next couple weeks. Take care of your body!

Some chiro's like some GPs are poor at best while there are quite a few that do a really great job. It takes some shopping around to find a chiro that will suit your purpose/needs, but unlike GPs it is much easier to shop for a chiro. You could also go with word of mouth from people you respect.

Agreed! However, even be careful there with word of mouth.....I found mine by word of mouth from several people.....A lot of people really really liked this guy. Sometimes, bone manipulation just isn't for some people. After the first time in for some deep tissue work by a massage therapist, I was feeling much better. All one can do is try. Good luck!!!!

Thanks for all the comments people. I've definately learnt a lesson here and will take more care in the future. I have a leg workout coming up today, which is what I injured myself doing in the first place so I will take much more care today. As for my back, it's completely fine now so I presume as someone pointed out that it was a muscle spasm. I trained back earlier this week and everything was fine there so looks like everything is all good once again

I use the leg press instead

Have you had problems with your back before? I presume you miss deads too. As an update I've had no further problems with my back, everything is just fine

As an update I've had no further problems with my back, everything is just fine I tried dead lifts once....OUCH Today I couldn't even do my leg presses because I strained my lower back this week on my "back" day I wish I could do squats, dead lifts because I know how important they are.
