actually, from what i have read/heard on the news, you also have a mexican candidate from new mexico (i believe he is a senator) that is running. it's interesting how there are 3 people running that would all be considered "minorities"...

Yeah, if they are actually all chosen to run, it is likely that many will vote based on ethnicity or sex rather then the actualy issues and what they plan to do. I really hope that most people will vote reguardless of that but you never know.

I think that you are refferring to "Barack Obama". He was actually born in Hawii and presides in Illinois. Hillary Clinton at present seems to be the Democratic hopefull. Obama is just too "unknown" and lacks experience! They (Democrats) have ALL kinds of clowns comming out of the woodwork...ie: Reverand Al Sharpton (Heehoo), John Karey (scarey), and even one goofball from MY hometown by the name of "Russ Fiengold" (big joke). As far as the "minorities" running for office...they need to know more about the "issues at hand" and worry less about their skin color or origin... Wink

I'd like to hear about the attitude of the troops about Bush.  The bubble-gum media here seems to be blind to the real threat of middle east chaos, and I haven't heard any plan whatsoever from the Dems about what to do about Iraq OR Iran, for that matter.  I can't imagine a world with a nuclear capable Iran.

Def - support our troops.

Hillary scares the chit out of me and Obama is underqualified, in my opinion but is the lesser of the two evils.

I honestly don't see ANY great candidates. Hopefully, some great hope will emerge between now and then.

Personally I don't mind Obama's lack of corruption (....er experience) in politics.  I think he'd be great as president.  Somebody with fresh ideas and who's extremelly articulate and concise in his communications will sit well as our countries representative.  He is somebody that could easily command respect from just about any country he deals with, and I'd personally feel refreshed to actually be able to listen to him speak without cringing (ala George W.)

It would also be refreshing to our allies and enemies alike to have somebody in office with the ability to see things in a different light than your typical lifer in the senate, who's more worried about his personal job security & other party members than anything else.  I also think his heritage will enable him more opportunities to make better ties to and between the leaders of the Middle East, hopefully bringing that area of the world back a bit from the brink of self-annihilation.  Right now most of them see us as "white westerners" and having a minority President, with some Islamic background could truly be a great thing.

Hillary just isnt fit for the Presidency in my opinion and many countries that we need to keep in check (N. Korea, the entire Middle East) would most likely not take to kindly to her; only further distancing ourselves from any sort of peacefull and cooperative resolutions, as well as further isolating already volitile regions.  Not to mention I don't want another retard in charge of our Military.

I see that Giuliani has announced today so that changes everything.  I think Obama will be favored over Hillary and that Giuliani will have a lot of public support and also name recognition.  And I agree with Derek and am hoping that the next president has oratorial skills among his qualifications.

What could be interesting is the voter profiles.  The balance of "younger" to "older" in the country is not what it used to be and that will have some kind of impact on votes, I would think.
