Okay. My main goal is just to get a routine into habit. From there I will tweak it for specifics. Today I got up at 5am (I normally don't get up until 7 or 7:30). I ran this morning for about 10 minutes. It was colder here than it has been all year. It actually got down to about 29! We normally don't see it that cold! I did get out there though. My first real run in about 3 years. Starting out slow. I bought a stability ball and a workout video to go with it and 5 lb. hand weights to go with it. I will do that when my little one takes a nap. That is my starting routine for now. I'm not sure how many times a week I should do the video. Maybe 3 times a week? I know I want to run 3 times a week for now.

With a little one to chase after you need to start slow with the routine, so what you've outlined will be a good start for the first month.

I have a 4 year old son that likes to do the video with me and I have a 14 month old little girl.  I did the video yesterday and was impressed with the video, but disappointed in some parts of it. I didn't break a sweat. However, some of the movements were a little difficult for me. My hamstrings are sore today. I guess I was expecting something that is really hard on me. Anyway. Sticking to my original goal. Gonna keep at this until it's routine for me. So tomorrow, I'm gonna do it again.

Question for you guys..  Is it bad for me to run everyday? I didn't really run for very long (even though it was really cold!). I don't mean bad for my body, but bad for what I'm trying to accomplish here. Huh

For what you want as far as results go I think moderate running is fine at this point.

Didn't get my run in this morning, but I can get it in this evening when my husband gets home. I still have that video workout to do today. We'll see how good I do considering my legs are still sore. I didn't realize just how out of shape my body really is! What an eye opener!  Anyways. I'll update later.

Undecided Mondays are usually the hardest for me to get out of bed early! I should just plan around this and make this my one day that I don't run early in the morning and do it later in the day. What do you think?

I took my kids to the zoo yesterday. How do you try to log that? I don't know if any of you have been to the San Diego Zoo, but it is not an easy zoo to walk! There are some very steep inclines and declines! And I was pushing a stroller. I am proud of myself though. I took some Special K snack bars with me and one of the Special K protein drinks with me.

Good for you an excursion like that is a great little cardio workout, and the fact that you kept your diet tight shows that your serious about reaching your goals. Now as far as the Monday run issue if you can get the run in later then go ahead and get a bit of a sleep in. Also by varying your workout times it will help you to avoid adapting to the workout.

One day at a time is the only way to get started and then in time working out and eating sensibly will seem as normal and easy as breathing (well almost as easy!).

Look even though your baby is sick you should still get your workouts done. I speak from the experience of 4 boys and not missing workouts.

p.s.   You are right about that. It just didn't work out the way my hubby's schedule was with work. Anyway. Now we are all sick. Me included. Nasty bug! My nose is a running faucet and my head is gonna implode at every breath intake! Ugh! The only ones feeling good are my dog and my cat! My house is littered with kleenex's.

Don't feel to bad as I know a great many families are also suffering as you are, so hang in there and you'll be ok in a week.
